Coach Hovis, 27, was born and raised in Valencia California and has moved back out west to San Jose after residing in Arizona the last three years. Coach Hovis attended Hart High (2003-2007) where he lettered in baseball as an outfielder. After graduating from Hart, Coach Hovis transitioned to Pitching, walking on to Point Loma Nazarene University’s baseball team (2007-2008). After sitting out the 2008-2009 season due to knee surgery (ACL, MCL, Meniscus) Coach Hovis transferred to pitch for Grossmont College (2009-2010) and eventually Concordia University of Irvine (2010-2012), Winning a National Championship along the way 2011. After the 2012, Hovis began to work as an under grad assistant in the fall of 2012 for Concordia Eagles baseball team before pursuing a career in spring 2013 in pitching professionally. In 2013 he Pitched for the Goodyear Centennials Independent team. After a January 2014 work out with the Dbacks Hovis went on to pitch for the Douglas Diablos in the spring, however the season ended short due to a rotator cuff injury. Bouncing back in 2015, Hovis worked out with several clubs from the Atlantic (PA), Can-Am(NJ), and Mt. Rainer (WA) Leagues before ultimately shutting it down in 2015. In 2016 a possible comeback came to a close in Rincon, Puerto Rico playing for the Touristos due to a foot injury. After several contracts fell through, Coach Hovis decided to move to the coast to pursue a coaching career. June and July of 2016 Coach Hovis volunteered to help the 11 year old All-Star team for Union Little League.
